Reboot Suit Samus by Zesiul Reboot Suit Samus by Zesiul
So after my last interpretation of Zero Suit Samus I felt like all the awesome feelings I wanted to come out of the piece wasn't there when it was done. Some of the anatomy was broken, and the suit felt less creative than I wanted it to be. So while that version wasn't what I wanted it to be I had also done some variations of it. So I made a new pose, fleshed out the suit, and fixed the anatomy as best I could. Here you get the result. Something hopefully new. I wanted to create a Samus that had never been the original idea. Perhaps if Metroid were not thought up until today this would be the design that might show up in the concept art for that game.

I spent a lot of time just looking at space suits, thinking of color schemes that popped up well, interesting ways to show character through pose. I tried to really up my game here by thinking about everything that would go into this piece. I wanted everything on the suit to have it's own meaning and purpose. From the space shoes to the taser blaster everything had to have some attachment to the original series but also be so drastically different that it could stand on it's own.

Hope you like the outcome. To see more just head on over to my blog! www.Zesiul.Blogspot.com

This should be the new "Zero Suit".

Finally, a Zero Suit that I can get behind! This is good; it's practical, and it doesn't pander to the fans by emphasizing anything thing other than how badass she really is.

I adore this suit! I wish I had the skill to make one for myself!

I have to admit, I don't think it'd be an easy task. I was really trying to make a complicated suit. It's something that wouldn't appear in the series because of console limitations. It's not a complete mirror, both sides are different, there's a large range of materials, and overall not very easy to copy. So if you ever did try to remake it, I'd honestly be very impressed. Especially with the metal, and lights. I hear lights in costumes are no easy task.

My regular Zero Suit was already a pretty serious challenge, since I hand-drafted the pattern. I don't think I have a prayer of coming up with something like this. Maybe I'll suggest it to one of my more talented Metroid fans and see what she thinks!

Very cool redesign! (I agree with one of the other commenters that the face isn't very Samusy, but that's incidental.)

Can you elaborate on some of these details that all have their own "meaning and purpose"?

What I meant by this is for everything to have a use. Also to have a form of call back to the series. For instance her shock absorbing shoes that were orange, or the light raveling around her arm representing the lazar whip, the 388, and the chozo logo. The whole color scheme is definitely very samus. And on top of all of that it has practicality, as I see it anyway. I referenced real space suits and had my own creative input with the design.

I like this. The fabric details make it seem like actual clothing, rather than yet another painted nude. I'm not sure that blaster she's holding would fit in the holster-looking thing on her leg, but maybe that stows somewhere else; a magnetic strip on the back of her belt or something, maybe. I'm also noticing the repeating "388" number on her suit. Is that a reference to SR-388, from the games, or something else?
